About Us

The Committee on Disability Power & Pride mobilizes all Americans with disabilities, and our families, friends and allies, to speak with one powerful voice. Power & Pride changes public perceptions of disability by promoting leadership, fostering dialogue and unity, and empowering individuals to become active citizens.

Our Logo

The “&” (ampersand) symbolizes our shared identity. Disability is a natural part of life, yet only one part. We have disabilities, & our friends & family have disabilities. We are architects, athletes, entertainers, businesspeople, politicians, artists, engineers, citizens, neighbors, friends, & we – or our loved ones – have disabilities. We are people with disabilities. We are people with Power & Pride.

Our Board of Directors

The board of Power & Pride is comprised by many of the disability community’s most respected voices. The Board consists of Tony Coelho (Chair), Jonathan Young (Vice Chair), Sue Swenson (Secretary), Thomas Panek (Treasurer), Stephen Bennett, Sandy Finucane, Andy Imparato, Susan Mazrui, Becky Ogle, Mark Perriello, and Marcie Roth. Come back soon for more information about our Board.

Our Committee

Power & Pride’s committee members are a vital part of what makes the organization successful. Come back soon for more information about who our Committee members.

Our History

Disability community leaders founded Power & Pride in 2009 as a natural outgrowth of two first-of-their kind events that heralded a rising political force. The January 2009 Power & Pride Inaugural Ball attracted nearly a thousand guests from across the country, while an October 2008 presidential campaign fundraising event drew contributions from more than 40 states.

The Committee on Disability Power & Pride is a non-profit corporation organized under the laws of the District of Columbia. Contributions to the Committee on Disability Power & Pride are not tax deductible as charitable contributions.
